SHATTERFORD
17th to 19th MARCH 2017 Photographs and some Video
What a fabulous weekend! We had twenty units out, including one from Essex and two DA couples trying the Folk Section for the first time. Among our members we had twenty five singers and musicians and five callers. After soup and rolls on Friday, Mark led a song and dance session. On Saturday after coffee, there were several choices – a ramble with Stan and Judy, geocaching with Gay and Lisa, beginner's dance workshop with Mark or crafts with Noreen. Crafts continued throughout the afternoon while we had a music jam session. We had an American Supper during which Molly was serenaded with “Happy 14th Birthday To You”, and presented with a beautifully decorated trifle made by John J. Allan was MC and we had a great evening of spots and dances.
On Sunday we had a Committee Meeting and coffee before everyone went off home.
Thank you Mark, TC, Amy and Molly for a lovely weekend.

28th APRIL - 1st MAY 2017
Another fabulous weekend! Steve and Angie were the stewards and the weekend started with soup and rolls on Friday, followed by an informal get together in the Hall.
Saturday was our AGM, where we elected our new Chairman Mark, who took over from our able and successful chairwoman, Gaynor.
The afternoon was spent doing: crafts, bluebell walks and music practice. The evening started with a magnificent American Supper, followed by, a full programme of entertainment. George updated us about Brenda's health and said his Farewells to us all, we wish him well.
Sunday morning was quiet, again the hall was open and the weather not far off foul, BUT what a treat was in store for us all. Angie (and Steve) had prepared a fabulous afternoon tea for the group. Sandwiches, cream cheese, salmon with cucumber and ham, scones with jam and cream, cake (various) and trifles huge, yummy, trifles that gave a satisfying shlump when prised from the bowls. Then another lovely evening of song, dance and chatter.
Monday coffee morning saw us eating leftover cake. A wonderful weekend, filled with laughter, songs, dancing, awful jokes and great company.

ROWINGTON
12th - 14th MAY 2017 Photographs and some Video
Our meet at Rowington was a great success. We had 17 units out with one from Home Counties, one from Wessex, (although they are almost “one of us “) and a new couple who Judy and Stan recruited at Birmingham Coach Station last November whilst waiting to go on a coach holiday. We were also particularly pleased to see the young family, who camp in a tent, with us again.
We got off to a great start on Friday afternoon , when our Stewards Jo and John Jackson, provided us with toasted teacakes and scones with jam and a choice of clotted cream, double cream or both!!!
Friday evening’s sing around was most enjoyable – more talent appearing at every meet.
Rowington is in an excellent position as well as having a lovely hall, so 6 members went on a ramble using the nearby canal and picnicking in the grounds of Baddesley Clinton, a National Trust property. Others practiced music and did craft.
There was an American tea in the evening, which was followed by a ceilidh ably MC’d by Jill.
On Sunday morning some visited Packwood house, another nearby National Trust property.

CUTNALL GREEN
14th - 16th JULY 2017 Photographs and some Video
All arrived in beautiful sunshine to be greeted by Deputy Bob and Calamity Noreen ( think those names may well stick!). We all enjoyed a BBQ with hot dogs and plenty of cowboy jokes! The evening was a lovely mix of songs and a bit of line dancing with Hilda.
Saturday saw many of us taking part in craft activities and enthusiastic music sessions with a whole host of musical instruments to be heard.
Bob was MC for the evening and there was a great band made up with Gill, Chris, Rosemary, David, Gay and Allan. Rosemary made us laugh with her impromptu Mop Dance accompanied by Gay and Allan. Great fun! Paul called some good dances but the men were doing some serious cheating and later on they were even tasked with being women- interesting to say the least. A lovely varied evening followed with spots and good dances!
Sunday morning saw us wend our way home after having a really good meet.
Thanks to Bob and Noreen for all their hard work.

HANLEY SWAN
11th - 13th AUGUST 2017 Photographs and some Video
A chance to breathe fresh Malvern air in good company. Gay and Jim Lilley stewarded admirably. Friday we were served with soup and rolls followed by an excellent informal evening of chat, music, dance, songs, jokes and stories. Saturday afternoon a blowy, sunny day saw our annual boules match underway. A visitor pictured here, ("I've never played before.") snatched the coveted chocolate prize from 'the regulars' Well done him.
Saturday evening after a filling super supper saw a pleasant dance and multi talented acts. All in all another great weekend.
Don't forget all are welcome, audiences are always appreciated.

SINTON GREEN
1st - 3rd SEPTEMBER 2017
Despite my family and I not camping at Sinton Green we did attend both Friday and Saturday night, the stewards were Jill and Martyn, and fun packed evenings they were too. On Friday we were all treated to home made soups and bread rolls, after that we all took part in a quiz with a difference, the difference being that Jill had forgotten the answers! So I still don't know if I got any of the answers right. We welcomed some members from other folk sections and also new members to the folk group. The evening was informal, we had a singaround including some Janet and John stories and a few dances.
Saturday evening we had our usual American supper, Jill was MC for the night, we all enjoyed music from John and Pauline our stewards and Steve with his scratch band.
All in all a good weekend with plenty of fruit being picked.
This write-up is been dedicated to Steve Henley who sadly passed away the day after this meet.

LITTLE WITLEY
13th - 15th OCTOBER 2017 Photographs and some Video
Thanks go to Liz and Brian for a super weekend at the picturesque village of Little Witley. The theme was the 'sea' and the hall was decorated with shells and bunting to get us in the mood.
On Friday evening we were treated to a lovely fish and chip supper washed down with numerous bottles of wine. It paved the way for a relaxing sing-around with a few dances in between. Saturday was filled with various activities including crafts, painting and music sessions ready for a fun packed evening with Jill as MC. We had numerous dodgy pirates but lucky no-one had to walk the plank!
Thanks for a super weekend me hearties!

SHATTERFORD
10th - 12th NOVEMBER 2017 Sorry - no Photographs at present.
Shatterford was our last Meet of the season and it was most enjoyable. We had three new couples plus visitors, Pat and Paul from NC and Rosemary and Dave from Wessex.
Friday evening we had our usual soup, rolls and cake followed by a request ring, some dancing, some singing and some solo playing. We all met up next morning for coffee, a chat, crafts and later in the afternoon a music session. After a very quick EGM to appoint a new Auditor, Mr John Owen, we had a shared supper followed by a lively evening of spots and dancing using our very own live band. I especially liked the poem about revisiting Mons read by Dave and the rather macabre song from Peter, "I’m the man who slits the turkeys’ throats at Christmas"! We celebrated TC’s birthday with cake and Freda’s with wine – thank you both.
We had an early Committee Meeting on Sunday but interrupted it for an hour long coffee break so we could wish our friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We also listened to the eleven o’clock chimes both days to pay our respects. Thank you Mark and TC for stewarding. Our first Meet of 2018 is back here at Shatterford hosted once again by TC and Mark with the theme of PANCAKES! Midland look forward to seeing some of you there.
