ASTON CANTLOW (Site No. 3281)
DIRECTIONS
This route has 13ft 6ins height restriction but avoids a narrow bridge. From Henley-in Arden take A3400 south for 3.4 miles. Turn right into Salters Lane at Golden Cross pub. In 1.9 miles turn left into Brearley Road In 0.7 miles turn right into Chapel Lane, pass Sunnyside cul de sac and carry on along gravel road to the field. Just a side note, if anyone is using a Sat Nav to get to the site, some have been known to attempt to navigate through the ford at the Haselor end of Aston Cantlow, that links up to Great Alne. Please note the ford is not suitable to drive through, so please ignore the directions to go through it. If you are in Great Alne and pass the ford on the left, three left turns will bring you into the village, and likewise if you pass it on your right two right turns will bring you into the village. The location of the site once in the village of Aston Cantlow is :- If coming into the village on the Bearley Road with the Kings Head Pub on your left, continue until you reach Cantella Farm and the phone box. After the small village green turn left into Chapel Lane. Continue along Chapel Lane in a straight line (don’t go round the corner to the right into Sunnyside) and you will pass some bungalows on the left, where the tarmac road changes to stone. Meadow Furlong House is straight ahead, and has a black swinging sign saying Meadow Furlong, Edkins between the house and the field. Turn right into the field. If coming into the village from the other direction, Chapel Lane is the first right hand turn in the centre of the village….then continue as above. |
