SHATTERFORD
21st - 23rd MAY 2021 Photographs
What a fabulous weekend at Shatterford. We had fifteen units out and the weather was kind, only raining during mealtimes. We had Morris dancing displays and a solo circle dance on the car park for those who could, egged on by those who couldn't. Molly brought her pet chicken, Buttercup, on a lead. Mark and Molly rode Mark's bicycle, which is two foot long, to great applause. We had Bluegrass on the green grass, tunes on the turf and songs on the stones, all socially distanced. Allan showed off his lockdown project of a three stringed blues cigar box guitar accompanied by Martin on his bass clarinet. Next stop Bodenham and I am told it will be well attended. Thanks to Mark and Molly for stewarding.

BODENHAM
JUNE 2021 Photographs
What a fantastic weekend at Bodenham Arboretum c/o stewards Brian and Liz with 27 (yes - 27) units! The 'old-timers' were able to welcome several newcomers who were attending a Folk Group for the first time.
We had unlimited access to the beautiful Arboretum and their snack bar and the grand weather just made the visit.
We formed a circle on the carpark on Friday and Saturday evenings and played and sang through until 9.30 ish making for very pleasant entertainment.
Saturday saw an impromptu afternoon band which kept us enthralled for a couple of hours. Everyone enjoyed getting back to some form of normality and were able to catch-up on news and (dare I say) gossip. Altogether it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

ASTON CANTLOW
16th - 18th JULY 2021 Photographs from mark Burton
We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our Aston Cantlow Meet. We had seventeen units out. Mark brought an
enormous gazebo and two of us added to the area by extending our roll out awnings to create a social space. We had coffee
mornings and singarounds and the neighbours loved it. Welcome to Vanessa and Bob new to meets but not to folk group
members. Thanks to Julie and Tom, stewarding for the first time.

FILLONGLEY
13th - 15th AUGUST 2021 Photographs
This was our first meet since the change in government Covid 19 restrictions in July, so we were very excited to have the use of the hall and that we would be able to both sing and dance. It was an excellent turn out, with 18 units attending many of whom were old friends but we were also pleased to welcome several new people who were joining us for the first time. We had two enjoyable evenings, full of fun and laughter, with the callers dusting off their skills and directing the willing but sometimes less than proficient dancers.
We managed a live band on both evenings, with Julia making her successful debut as a band leader. The band was ably assisted on Saturday night by Keith Jackson who had joined us for the weekend. The dances were interspersed with songs, stories and poems and a fun quiz during the break. However, the main event of the weekend was to be the annual boules competition, scheduled for Saturday afternoon. To our disappointment it started to rain at around lunchtime, so it was decided to reschedule it for Sunday morning. Some units had to leave early, so were unable to take part, but those who remained were randomly teamed up for a nail-biting competition.
Again, some participants were more proficient than others. Eventually the final four took their places on the field for a closely fought battle. With just one point in it before the final end, victory went to Hilda and John, with Noreen and Roy as the valiant runners up. The winners were pleased and surprised to be presented with a beautiful trophy each, created for them by Julie.
This was the first time that Jeff and June had stewarded a meet and I think that everyone who attended the weekend felt it was a great success. Thank you Jeff and June.

SINTON GREEN
10th - 12th SEPTEMBER 2021
The weather held out quite well for us in Sinton green. We had a total of 11 units this weekend. There were plenty of juicy fruits to pick, from damsons to blackberry's. We welcomed a new member, 'Val' to our group. Friday evening we went round the circle to have a sing song and a few dances. On Saturday evening, Mark was our MC for the night which went very well. Mark and I went for a bike ride around Worcester and completed 15 miles. I'd like to say a big thank you to Tom and Julie for being our Stewards this weekend.

LOWSENFORD
OCTOBER 2021 Photographs by Mark Burton
This was a very enjoyable meet. It was helped by good weather and the site is right next to the canal so some walked and some idled their time away watching canal boats or picking damsons. We had a lovely mixture of songs, poems and dance on both evenings. One highlight was the sound of a kazoo playing for Posties Jig which could sloooooow dowwwwn at the appropriate time to allow the dancers to regroup. Faith was restored the following night when it was danced again perfectly to music. The encaustic art and the jigsaw proved interesting and kept many entertained for quite a long time We also enjoyed a meal at the pub which first started Pukka Pies. Thanks Lesley and Roy for organising the event and a great weekend.

ASTLEY
NOVEMBER 2021 Photographs
We had 21 units out for the last meet of the season. It is a village hall we use at the start and end of each year as the parking is good and there is ample grass behind the hall. We had crafts set up on Friday afternoon including quilling, Christmas boxes and encaustic art. There was plenty of tea and coffee to welcome all our members but the chocolate biscuits disappeared quickly! In the evening we had our usual big circle and members sang, played music, told stories and danced. We had a scratch band, led by Tim and Ann - their first time out with Midland - and Allan.
The Committee convened on Saturday morning and had a very productive meeting. Glen led a walk and several went with him. The afternoon was given over to crafts and the now obligatory jigsaw puzzle. Mandy and Glen had a challenge for us later in the afternoon. We were put in teams, given a pack of Lego and asked to design a hobby scenario. Well my group was the best though we didn't win! The evening saw us still dancing singing etc MC'd by Mark.
On Sunday morning we had a two minute silence and a demonstration of Devil's Dream followed by members trying out Mandy's recumbent bicycle on which she had racked up 20.000 miles. It was a super weekend and thank you to new Stewards Mandy and Glen. Gaynor Butler
